Design Crush: Craft Chocolate Lovers Round-up

By the looks of this craft chocolate round-up, you'd think we were serious chocolate lovers. Maybe we are! With all of the thoughtful and beautiful packaging turning up from chocolatier's, we think it the perfect gift for this holiday season. Here, the Mast Brothers offerings, Williamsburg makers of the finest craft chocolate presented in too-precious-to-tear wrappings.
I first came across Olive & Sinclaire Chocolate Co. when I was passing through Georgia. The Southern artisan bean-to-bar chocolate is handcrafted by native Nashvillians in the heart of Music City. We love the classic candy shoppe typography and their corporate gift offerings are awesome.
The makers behind Beta 5 Chocolates wanted to create a different kind of chocolate shop using the best ingredients in the name of good taste. Their minimal and refined design definitely sets them apart on the chocolate shelf at the market.
Askinosie Chocolate was the first craft chocolate that made me take note. How beautiful is their presentation? The man behind the label was a defense lawyer turned passionate chocolatier. Their peppermint Bark is made from single-origin dark chocolate, then layered with white chocolate and topped off with crushed bits of natural peppermint.
The name is cheeky and suggestive and we like it. Hooker's Sweet Treats won the hearts of SF sweet lovers with their salted caramel covered in bittersweet chocolate. At first they were only available at Sightglass Coffee and The Parish Trust but have vastly expanded to our delight. The rustic packaging is simply perfect, too.
Chocolate Editions by Mary & Matt is a celebration of the candy bar as a perfect pop object. They launched their line of craft chocolates in their home kitchen as gifts for friends and family and it quickly grew into a full line. Their list of inspiration is an eclectic one: rugby shirts, works by Sol LeWitt, David Hockneya nd Neapolitan ice cream. Mary and Matt use the highest quality ingredients and craft their chocolate bars in small, handmade batches.
We fell hard for Sweeteeth, a very small operation out of North Charleston, South Carolina. They've got a cool story too. Johnny, the man behind the label is a twenty-something tattooed Alabama boy and self-taught chocolatie. He started Sweet Teeth Confections in 2008 after experimenting with chocolate and gaining a cult following with his original line of signature chocolate bars. Shop Sweeteeth here.
