Ask a Member: Lidia Sadoun of La Fleuriste

Lidia Sadoun is the seasoned designer behind La Fleuriste. She is a city girl at heart, finding inspiration in the bustling streets of Paris, New York, Los Angeles and of course, San Francisco, the place she calls home. Her creations have an organic elegance to them that is feminine in that not-too-girly sort of way. She creates lush arrangements from her private studio in Tiburon, a quaint coastal town along the San Francisco Bay. But Lidia does weddings all over Northern California. "I know people say that but I really mean it— from Calistoga to Carmel and everywhere in between," she says. With over 12 years of experience in the event industry, Lidia's name is synonymous with Wine Country wedding style. We're happy to welcome her to The Collection!
We're thrilled to have you as a member of The Collection. What is it about The Collection that inspires or excites you? I’m excited to be in the company of great artists and designers. And in such a beautiful space! It’s very stimulating.
Where to you find inspiration as a designer?
I find inspiration everywhere. Most often in nature, but sometimes it’s less obvious. I am influenced by architecture, music, books, and other forms of art— anything that makes you think twice.
What's your aesthetic?
Clean, detail-oriented, unexpected.
In creating arrangements for a Wine Country event, what are your flowers and objects of choice?
I always enjoy incorporating the local context into any event. I get excited about subtle details, like using a stemless wine glass as a vase or accenting the escort table with vintage wine bottles. When working with interesting containers, the types of flowers are often less relevant.
What are your springtime flower favorites?
Snowball Viburnum. Can’t get enough of it!
What’s next in wedding floral design {think color combinations, materials, philosophy}?
I feel that floral design for weddings is now heading in many different directions and I’m super excited about that. Weddings seem to be more personalized than before. Couples are incorporating different elements that reflect their culture and family traditions. I always welcome the idea of finding interesting ways to communicate details about the couple through flowers and décor elements.
What is your idea of the perfect day?
An entire day spent at the beach.
