We've long lusted after the delicate offerings of Mignonne. We're now carrying Jenn Wood's handmade wares in the studio! We like her story. She was an art history major with a love of antiques. After school she found herself learning the art of floral design at a local flower shop and soon fell for the craft. "Mignonne handmade was born out of a love for embellishment, deorative forms and above all, pretty things," she says of her line. Jenn designs from her home studio in historic central Phoenix. "I have a great big, aged-wood table to work on (handmade by my husband— he's the best!)," she says. "I love to create things in my own little space." We caught up with the designer on the inspiration behind her work, her personal style, and the rise of the Etsy, D.I.Y movement that we all praise.

What is your personal style?
I love quirky, vintage looks. My favorite decades right now are the '60s and '70s. As for shops, I love J.crew, Madewell, Asos, H&M, and of course, Anthropologie. I don't really follow many trends but prefer classic pieces. My first style icon/obsession was Audrey Hepburn so I think I tend to stick to pieces that will last through fads. For the home, I've noticed my decorating preferences lean toward a mix of nature-inspired, vintage and mid-century modern, with some odd, whimsical touches thrown in.
Where do you draw inspiration?
Lots of fashion blogs! I also love to watch old movies and listen to music to get inspiration. But sometimes it can be as simple as taking a walk in the desert or getting up to high country to be in nature.
What are your favorite materials to work with?
Natural and unusual fabrics: pinneapple cloth, raw silk, cottons, linens, and silks.
What's your take on the crafty, D.I.Y philosophy that has made Etsy?
Etsy has been fantastic for me and for many others who find happiness in creating things and sharing them with the world. Though I often fantasize about living in another era or country (mainly France) we are so lucky to be here at this time and reaping the benefits of technology and the innovation of Etsy.
Will you share your idea of the perfect day with us?
One spent with my family doing something fun together in the outdoors and then eating a fabulous meal and ending the day with a romantic night out with my husband.
